There’s no better way to start a series than showcasing the best in the industry. Welcome to ‘Setting The Standard’ with Exercise New Zealand. In our first episode, we take a journey to Les Mills Auckland to catch up with Ish, Head of Fitness – Les Mills New Zealand, and Tau the National Group Fitness Manager – Les Mills New Zealand. They explain why Les Mills new group fitness class ‘The Trip’ (their first attempt at the Gamification of exercise) was created to improve member experience with exercise.
Les Mills was established in 1968, with their first gym in Auckland. A lot has changed since then now being the leading global name for Group Exercise and stationed in over 100 countries, however, the one thing that has remained the same is their ideals of innovation for improving member experience, as seen in their innovative group cycling class – The Trip.
The Trip allows members to engage in a fully immersive experience involving a 40-minute cycling workout through digitally created worlds. Honestly, words don’t do it justice, The Trip is something everyone must try! Research from the Les Mills Lab (https://www.lesmills.com/fit-planet/fitness/THE-TRIP-research/) explains that the Trip is the ultimate solution for cyclist enthusiasts or anyone looking to start, who wants to get fitter and faster with less discomfort.
As Ish says the best type of member is not someone who doesn’t show up, it’s someone who is “coming to the gym, getting results and wants to stay” because ultimately that is what creates raving fans. So clearly their ability to care about their members first is just the start of many reasons why their brand has such a great reputation.
We are proud to be working with Les Mills and representing the fitness industry as a whole on a range of topics such as Music Licensing, Club Management, Policies and Training Certifications. If you would like more information, please feel free to get in contact.
